Dr Esi Awotwi

Dr. Esi Awotwi is a Public Health and Development Management practitioner. She holds a first degree in Nursing with Psychology, and has acquired Masters and Doctoral degrees in Business Administration, with specialization in Health Services Management and Project Management
respectively. She has over fifteen years of experience in the research, planning/development, implementation and analysis of HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and gender-related dimensions amongst various sub-population types i.e. young people, adults, workplace and
marginalized populations including persons with disabilities, migrant and displaced groups, and persons living with HIV.

As an expert in project management, she provides strategic inputs for the design and management of projects and programs that address the reproductive health needs of young people and marginalized populations, particularly underserved women and girls, and young persons with
disabilities. Her extensive experience in the sector has seen her managing and coordinating government and non-government implementing partners, and spearheading the delivery of innovative, multi-sectoral, social change projects and programs that have yielded positive
transformational results. She continues to provide technical guidance for the implementation of gender-responsive and rights-based programming approaches to empower girls, women, and marginalized populations with health, educational, social and economic assets to mitigate the factors that influence their vulnerabilities. Some of these interventions have been recognized and documented as good practices by UNFPA, Open Society Foundation, and other international partners.

With her wide-ranging experience as an instructor, she has mentored students, interns and development workers on varied areas relating to project/program planning, management and coordination. She has also provided leadership, and participated in the delivery of a wide range of
technical support at the local and international levels to the UN System, government and NGO counterparts in programme design/planning, implementation and evaluations/reviews. To this end, she has worked with agencies including the Ghana AIDS Commission, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNAIDS, CoTVET/AfDB/UNDP, WFP, IPPF/PPAG, FIDA Ghana, Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights (ARHR), SWAA Ghana, PAYDP Ghana, AfriYan, Hope for Future Generations (HFFG), Knitweb, the Ghana Police Service (AIDS Control Unit) and several Regional Coordinating
Councils.

With more than fifteen years of experience working with the UN System, Dr. Awotwi has acquired a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise on the varied administrative arrangements in the development sector, particularly with the NGO environment, and international funding agencies.

She is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives and the West African Postgraduate College of Nursing and Midwifery. She is also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, the International Business Honor Society (Delta-Mu-Delta), the National Society of
Leadership and Success, the Fulbright Association, and the International Association for Impact Assessment-Ghana.
